The best NOISY vehicle books for toddlers

You’re probably here because your kid loves cars, trucks, and vehicles of all kinds. Maybe you love noisy books, or maybe you’ve been trying to resist filling your home with more noise. Maybe you’ve been burned by books that break after a few days, and make sad little clicks instead of proper rumbles and sirens. Maybe you’re looking for something that will hold your kid’s interest for just a few extra minutes. Whoever you are, this list is for you!

Noisy books are anything where you press a button and get a sound. They’re typically pretty simple and not especially story-driven. Candidly, none of these make my all-time favorites list, but we do have a few we’ve liked.

(One quick parenting hack: if you’re looking to kill some time with a toddler, take them to a bookstore and let them go nuts with the noisy books! They will be content to push all of the buttons and flip all of the pages for quite a while, and you really don’t even have to take any of them home.)

A noisy version of a familiar favorite

What Do You Say, Little Blue Truck? Sound Book

by Alice Schertle and Jill McElmurry

Buy on Amazon

The popular Little Blue Truck books combine vehicles (a toddler favorite) with farm animals (also a toddler favorite) in simple stories with massive appeal.

This sound book cleverly matches the farm animals with color and images so that toddlers can learn to cue the sounds as their parent reads, or can “read” on their own. There’s not much of a story, just everybody saying hi in their own way.

We don’t own a copy of this one so can’t speak to its longevity, but when we borrowed it I thought it seemed sturdy and the Amazon reviews are quite high.

A reliable series for little hands

Usborne Sound Books “Let’s go” series

This one scores high points with me for quality: it’s the only noisy book we own that has really held up over time. Instead of buttons it relies on little light sensors, which my toddler very quickly got the hang of. It has pretty basic illustrations of fire fighters driving to a fire, putting on the sirens, and putting out the fire.

I’m confident enough in the overall Usborne quality that I’d recommend any of the others in this series if your kid isn’t that into fire trucks: tractor, digger, race car, or tow truck.

A combo noise, matching, and lift-the-flap book

Noisy Truck, from Priddy Books

Buy from Priddy Books

This one has it all: noisy buttons (that light up!), flaps to lift, things to find, and tons of facts about four different featured truck. Each page is color-coded to match one sound button. I like that it has a different set of trucks from your usual construction site line-up, including a heavy-duty tow truck and an “explorer” truck.
